The Staff are Friendly at Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire

By |2014-05-24T08:37:26+00:00May 24th, 2014|Testimonials|

Have cycled the trail now 3 times, and each time has been just as exhilarating and tiring as the very first visit. Although I live locally, it makes a very nice change to cycle and view the past remnants of what was once a thriving railway hub connecting the Peak District to the capital city of London. As the trail is 8.5 miles (one way), there is still plenty along the route to see and do especially during the hot spells of weather perfect for picnicking! My advice? When the weather is at its best, cycle along one of the wonders of the Monsal Trail and enjoy the scenery and history it has to offer. Plus, leave the trail at Bakewell and/or travel into the spa town of Buxton (about 1/2 a mile from the trail) and explore the thriving market towns once connected by a great railway! Finally, what [...]

Amazing Experience and Amazing Couple at Blackwell Mill

By |2014-05-23T08:36:19+00:00May 23rd, 2014|Testimonials|

My husband, myself and boxer dog Candy have just returned home from a break where we spent a day cycling the Monsal trail. As I have severe arthritis and awaiting hip replacements we hired 2 electric bikes from here in the hope that I would be able to manage this. The care and service received from the lovely couple who own this cycle hire company was outstanding and certainly warmed my heart. I hadn't ridden a bike in many years and didn't really understand what an electric bike was but was so impressed by it that I'm now researching buying one for myself. It allows you some exercise as you still need to pedal it, but it is completely effortless pedalling as the bike does the hard 0work. Looking at it you wouldn't know it is electric as the battery pack sits in one of the saddle bags. Amazing experience, [...]

We Had a Wonderful Time on the Trail

We had a wonderful time on the trail on May 8th 2014. Cheryl made it easy for us to book for a large group and it was a lovely idea for a work/team building away day. Very friendly staff and a great day out! Everyone of mixed cycling abilities and fitness but good time had by all and even managed to fit in a pub lunch and coffee and cake in Bakewell! Thanks for a great day. Leanne, Jeanette and the gang.

Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire is in the Perfect Spot

By |2014-05-03T14:10:52+00:00May 3rd, 2014|Testimonials|

Today was the best day of the year so far - blue skies and warm sunshine in the main, so our experience of the Monsal Trail was made even better. That said, the trail itself is great - easy riding over a distance of 17 miles (in total out and back) plus about 1.5 miles (in total in and out) of Bakewell (off the far end of the trail) for lunch - numerous pubs. Splendid scenery plus lots of opportunities to lock the bikes up and take a stroll uphill as to Monsal Head, or downhill as to the river. Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire, if you're hiring bikes, is in the perfect spot. Park just off the A6 near the entrance to a quarry and stroll down alongside the river (I'd say about a mile) and you'll come to the cycle hire centre (and a cup of tea if you [...]

Really Friendly People

By |2014-04-26T14:03:21+00:00April 26th, 2014|Testimonials|

We hired bikes from here in the Easter holidays and had a great day. We were actually staying nearer Bakewell, but wanted to cycle for the day and so decided starting from this end, and reaching Hassop station for lunchtime, was a better way to do the trail. Although it meant a half hours drive either way it was a great decision, as the lunch at the station was lovely (good food from bacon baps to meat platter and good kids selection), and the cycle hire place was great - really friendly people, and bikes were new, and comfy (great saddles - going to get one for my own bike). Can't comment on kids bikes as we took our daughter's own, but they looked good and there were tag-alongs and trailers there too. Was really interesting going through the tunnels (windy on the way back) and the trail was lovely. [...]

Lovely Family run Business

By |2014-04-21T14:00:10+00:00April 21st, 2014|Testimonials|

We visited here yesterday for the first time. Really helpful and friendly staff who took their time to help my lad find the right bike and set up rather than just sending on our way after taking our money. They spent the time to show us all the best spots along the trail and wished us on our way. Upon our return they welcomed us back and was genuinely interested in our day. Lovely family run business that makes the start and the end of your day a pleasure! We will certainly be visiting again and popping in for a tea even if we don't require a bicycle. Couldn't recommend them more highly!

Thank you for Being so Friendly

We had a terrific trip from Blackwell to Hassop last week with our little dog, Ted, who sat in a trailer like a prince in a chariot. He got lots of comments. The trail was lovely and the trip really added to our camping holiday. Thank you for being so friendly and accommodating for us and for Ted.
