Bit of a trek from the main road along a delightful riverside 'road' but well worth the 10 minutes when you get to the hire shop. We had pre-booked our 2 electric bikes & they were ready for us - complete with helmets, locks & a useful map. This was supplemented with local knowledge & advice freely given by staff. A brilliant experience cycling along the Trail, through tunnels & by old stations. Refreshments readily available and some good pubs nearby (Anglers Rest was most welcoming & pretty). There is a definite incline on the return journey but the electric bikes worked well and we finished with tired legs, sore bums but great big smiles. Huge value at £50 for the two bikes all day. Lovely lazy day cycling along the Monsal Trail in glorious sunshine. Bit of an incline coming back but never too noticeable. All day hire means you're never too rushed. Very friendly and helpful staff. Definitely recommend the cafe at Hassop Station for a wee stop off. tim_mineard

I had a great day out at the Monsal trail, we hired our bikes for the day from Blackwell mill cycle hire, the price is very reasonable for a days cycle hire and is at the very start of the trail so you can't go wrong with this pace, plenty of refreshment stops along the way and you are given a lock to secure your bike if you decide to wander along the way. The guys are very friendly and helpful, I will certainly return in the future Wendy M

Great day on The Monsal Trail. The staff were very helpful and informative and gave us tips on where to stop en route for picnic refreshments etc. Wonderful to be able to start at the beginning and cycle to Bakewell Station. Would definitely recommend. Mike C

These guys are actual legends. We had our own bikes, but got a puncture nearby the shop. They couldn't do enough to help (even though we hadn't rented from them) and got us on our way again as quickly as possible. Definitely recommend stopping by. lucielou1507

I was persuaded to hire a bike and cycle the route to Bakewell. We hire bikes from Blackwell mill and I had an electric cycle as I haven’t cycled for years ( and I was never very good ) All very simple to arrange ,very pleasant cycling along an old train track Lots of people walking and cycling along the route Places for good views and food and drink if you need it Very pleased I did it Valerie O

Spent 5 hours cycling on the Monsal trail with the Family. Excellent day out with plenty of interesting places to stop. Hired bikes from Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire - good quality equipment and very knowledgable and helpful staff. The guys there gave us a map of the route and circled places of interest that were perfect for stopping and getting photos. Would certainly recommend to family and friends. Dadster63

A friend and I decided to make the most of the sunshine and hire bikes to go to Bakewell and we are so glad we did. The couple that run Blackwell Cycle Hire were so friendly and knowledgeable and made sure everything was just right for our little trip out. My friend even needed an urgent toilet trip and the lady let her use their own facilities back at the house. For anybody that wants some fresh air, great views and a bit of exercise (slightly more on the return journey!) I’d definitely recommend!! Laura C
