Great place to hire a bike for the Monsal Trail, great prices too - the hire shops near the other end (Hassop Station) are more expensive. Host was friendly, explained everything thoroughly and was happy to answer any questions we had. Would have given 5/5 however the seats were pretty uncomfortable - we didn't notice this on the way down (towards Hassap Station) as it's slightly downhill, you needn't pedal much... but on return leg, you really feel it! Only avid cyclists will manage a return journey without pain to the glutes... If you're thinking of hiring here for the trail, I'd recommend padded shorts or evening bringing a gel seat cover.

We had a great day cycling to Bakewell and back and can’t fault the bikes. Blackwell Mill offers a great, quick service plus a little tuck shop to stock up on snacks and water beforehand. There are picnic benches to sit and enjoy a cup of tea at the end of the day too. The Monsal Trail is a really easy, safe ride with plenty of places to stop for toilet breaks along the way. It can get busy so start early!

Very helpful, v safety conscious hire location. Quick and friendly service got us on the trail in no time. Kids ranging from 9 to 15 loved it.

Definitely recommend this place if you’re cycling the monsal trail. Friendly service, and 1.5 hrs from Hassop station (for your lunch break)

We decided during our stay in Buxton to try the Monsal Trail. Having not ridden a bike in over 20 years I was a little apprehensive. We rang in advance as we have two small dogs so we could reserve the dog trailer. We got there and they explain everything to you, help you set up the bike sears for size and give you a map with suggestions to stop off at on route. I was a little wobbly first setting off but within a few minutes it was like I had never been off a bike. We had such an aazing day out. The trail is pretty flat and level so once you get up the hill onto the trail the rest is a pretty easy ride. We turned up and parked at the Wye Dale carpark about 09:15. After a short walk round a windy road into the woods, we found Blackwell Cycle Hire. We were greeted with a warm welcome and asked to join the already lengthy queue. We didn’t have to wait long before we asked if we had booked bikes for the day ( this would be recommended during holiday periods ), we hadn’t but the staff were quick to find us 4 quality adult bikes, helmets and locks. We were talked through the Monsal Trail and given a few pointers on where to take in the best sights. We opted to take the ride straight down to Bakewell, we stopped for a coffee and scone in a quaint coffee shop, before we sat by the river and had lunch. Excellent service, I've hired from here before and they're always helpful. The bikes are well maintained. It does get busy so make sure you pre-book. The ride was nice and easy, had a cheeky pint on the route too.

Great day out. Efficient handover of decent quality bikes. Plenty of time to have a good stop exploring Bakewell and plenty to see along the way.

Enjoyed a lovely day cycling on the Monsal Trail. Staff were very friendly and helpful including helping to get our bikes up the slope to the trail.It was useful to be able to book a trailer in advance for our little boy and he loved it. All bikes were in really good condition. Would highly recommend!
