Couldn’t recommend this more – it was amazing value for money, the staff were so friendly and helpful and this was by far the best day out of our holiday – so to Blackwell Mill Cycle Hire – thank you!

Called a day ahead to reserve two bikes. The gentleman on the phone was helpful and courteous. On arrival on the day, we got there for 9.30am, when it opened, which I can recommend doing as it does get busier throughout the day. There is a public car park which costs £4.75 for the whole day, and takes card or contactless payments – making this much easier than having to find coins. After a 10 minute walk you are at the bike hire centre.
When we got there we gave our name and filled out a form. They asked for my driving licence as a deposit for the bikes, which I was happy to give them. The gentleman who checked our bikes, realised mine would not be right for me and changed it immediately. He then proceeded to make sure I was happy with the bike I was given and went through the map with us, pointing out some places we might like to stop. We were given a lock for the bikes (also offered helmets but we didn’t need these) and were told that we could call if we had any issues and someone would come and pick us up.
The ride was lovely. As someone who hasn’t ridden a bike for a good 10 years, I found the bike comfy and very easy to ride. The map helped us see what we were coming up to and the views were spectacular. Once we got to Bakewell we parked up and then went round before riding back. The ride back was definitely harder than the ride there, despite there only being a slight incline on the way back.
Upon our return we handed our bikes back, and could see that the bikes already returned were being cleaned – ready for a new rider.
I then got my driving licence back, and thanked them for their service.
