I phoned to book the bikes and the lady was helpful & clearly explained how to find them. On the day, we drove to the Wyedale car park which is very small and was full (but £4.75 for the day if you can get in). Tried to find alternative parking on my phone but no signal. We did a 1000 point turn to get out of the car park (it’s narrow) & went back up on to the main road. Almost opposite the road down to the car park is a lay-by which has a bus stop so couldn’t park there but slightly further along the road was another large lay-by with no yellow lines or notices saying that you couldn’t park there so we stayed there all day for free.

We headed off walking alongside the river (about a 15 minute walk) to the bike hire place. In spite of the fact that they were short-staffed and only 2 of them, they still spent time making sure that saddles were the right height, & explaining the map -places to stop, views to see.

The only reason I’ve knocked a point off is because I found the saddle incredibly uncomfortable (& my bottom is far from boney!). It became uncomfortable very quickly & after cycling both ways I never thought I’d sit down again. Discomfort aside, I’m so glad we did it & would definitely recommend Blackwell Cycle Hire.
