We have electric bikes at home but decided it was easier to hire them here. Owner was very friendly on the phone and he and his wife were also very nice in person. The young man who showed us how to work the bikes was a bit perfunctory – for instance his demonstration of how the gear change worked took probably less than two seconds and in the end I had to work it out by trial and error. I had an electric bike, it was brilliant, very smooth. My husband had (by choice) a standard bike and nearly expired on the way back which is all uphill! The trail itself is beautiful and interesting and the map they give you at Blackwell’s is very useful. Would definitely do it again but hire two electric bikes this time!
